Essentially, the 'brush' emits hundreds of silent pulses per second that, with the special toothpaste, create microbubbles. These microbubbles are so tiny they travel across the teeth, under the gums and around the mouth. The bubbles are negatively ionised so they attract all the positively charged bacteria - which helps to rid your dog's mouth of all those nasties wreaking havoc on the teeth and gums, and which account, in part, for bad breath (diet and gut health play a huge role in doggie breath).

Dental chews and rope toys are often recommended to help keep teeth clean. The ultrasonic treatment is special because it helps to soften plaque and tartar so that the plaque comes away more easily without damaging the enamel.

Not to be confused with a sonic or vibrating and humming toothbrush for humans, the ultrasonic toothbrush is silent and non-vibrating.

Of course, some dogs don't like strangers poking about the mouth and might not co-operate. For understandable reasons, we will leave well-enough alone.
