Grooming Terms and Conditions

Grooming Terms & Conditions

When you register your dog with Just Barking, these are the terms under which we provide grooming services. By booking an appointment, you agree to these terms. Our aim is always to treat your dog with kindness, care and professionalism — but there are some important things to understand about how we work together.

Your Dog’s Wellbeing

  • We carry out grooming to the best of our abilities, always putting your dog’s safety and comfort first.

  • Some factors are outside our control — for example, behaviour, coat condition, skin sensitivity, or existing health issues.

  • If a dog’s coat is heavily matted, we may need to shave areas short. Shaving may reveal underlying conditions (such as irritation, sores or parasites) that were not visible beforehand. We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing conditions revealed during grooming.

  • While we make every effort to check and trim nails (including dew claws), some conditions — like ingrown nails, ear infections or dental issues — develop over time between appointments. Owners remain responsible for ongoing care and monitoring.

Behaviour & Safety

  • Aggressive or severely anxious behaviour may mean we cannot complete a groom for safety reasons. If this occurs, we may still charge for the appointment.

  • Muzzles or restraints may be used if necessary for safety, always with your dog’s welfare in mind.

Appointments & Cancellations

  • When you book, you’ll receive confirmation by email or SMS. We expect that the appointment is honoured.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer the slot to another customer.

  • Missed appointments or late cancellations may be charged in full or in part, as wages and overheads still apply even if your dog isn’t on the table.

Owner Information

To keep your dog safe and provide the best service, we require:

  • Your full name and contact details (email, phone).

  • Your vet’s contact details.

  • An alternate emergency contact (partner/friend/family).

Health & Emergencies

  • Please let us know about any medical conditions, allergies, or recent vet treatments before the groom.

  • In the unlikely event of an emergency, we may seek immediate veterinary attention for your dog, at your expense (unless of course the emergency is our fault). We will always try to contact you (or your alternate contact) first.

Payment & Pricing

  • Payment is due at the time of collection.

  • Prices may vary depending on your dog’s coat, behaviour and condition at the time of the groom.

General Notes

  • We follow best practice and industry guidance, including BIGA (British Isles Grooming Association) standards in accordance with the UK Government's 'Best Practice' voluntary code of conduct.

  • Our terms are designed to protect you, your dog, and our staff — while keeping everything clear, friendly and fair.

Final Word

We’ve been your local groomer since 2009 and are proud of the trust you place in us. These terms aren’t “fine print” — just a clear understanding of how we work, so you can feel confident your dog is in safe hands.
